New Volunteers: Groups

The more, the merrier!

group-volunteering1Open Arms aims to have fun, flexible group opportunities in the kitchen, on delivery, and at the farm, as well as special opportunities for events and projects.

During this time of COVID-19, we have had to modify our groups to comply with social-distancing recommendations, but we will work with you to find a opportunity that fits your group.

Available group shifts include:

Group shift for the kitchen typically last 2.5 hours, which includes 30 minutes of training. We typically accommodate groups ranging between 8–20 members, but due to the ongoing public health crisis, we are only accepting a maximum group size of 10 and a minimum size of 6. We are also currently only accepting group shifts on Thursdays and Fridays. Additional group-shift dates will become available starting November 1.

  • Thursdays: 1:30-4:00 (6-10 people)
  • Fridays: 1:30-4:00 (6-10 people)

Note: Ages 16 and older can volunteer in the kitchen without an accompanying adult, 8-15 years of age with an adult at a 2:1 ratio.

Monday-Friday: 10:30-1:00 (delivery takes approximately 1-2 hours). We can accommodate up to 10 volunteers. We request a minimum of at least one week notice for delivery shifts.

Note: Groups must provide their own vehicle for deliveries, and youth are welcome to join supervising adults for deliveries–ages 18 and older can deliver alone. We are doing delivery drive-up during this time, so we load your car when you arrive and we will go over our Drop, Wait and Wave practices when you come in.

IMPORTANT NOTE: We typically book groups 4-6 weeks in advance, so please provide as much notice as possible when inquiring about your desired date.

A friendly note: Our Volunteer Engagement staff want to give you their undivided attention when you are here to volunteer, which means their response to your initial inquiry will be returned as soon as possible. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE! We cannot wait to work with your group.
