Director of Human Resources
The Director of Human Resources contributes to the mission of Open Arms by overseeing the day-to-day functions of the Human Resources Department and supervising the HR Team: HR Manager, HR Coordinator and Recruiter & Onboarding Specialist. The Director of Human Resources will ensure HR compliance when implementing HR policies and procedures. The person in this role will build trust and effective relationships with all leaders and staff members, demonstrating a proactive and accountable team-oriented approach to addressing the opportunities and challenges when addressing employee-relations and performance related issues. As with all Open Arms staff positions, this position is responsible for helping ensure volunteers and interns have an exemplary experience during all interactions with Open Arms and consistently maintains a high level of customer service to all guests, clients and fellow team members.
Building Maintenance Associate
This full time and hourly position contributes to the fulfillment of the Open Arms’ mission by performing basic maintenance and cleaning in the facility, including a commercial kitchen. The Building Maintenance Associate ensures the Minneapolis grounds and building are consistently well-maintained, welcoming, and clean, and that the kitchen and other critical areas are functioning as needed. As with all Open Arms staff positions, this position is responsible for helping ensure volunteers and interns have an exemplary experience during all interactions with Open Arms and is expected to consistently maintain a high level of customer service to all guests, clients, and fellow team members.
Community Engagement Coordinator
This full-time salaried position contributes to the fulfillment of the Open Arms’ mission by serving as a forward-facing member of the Client Programs Department and supporting community outreach and programming efforts of the organization. This position is responsible for helping to expand and manage OAM’s presence in various communities by fostering new relationships, attending community events, and supporting the development of culturally sensitive programming within those communities. As with all Open Arms staff positions, this position is responsible for helping ensure volunteers and interns have an exemplary experience during all interactions with Open Arms and is expected to consistently maintain a high level of customer service to all guests, clients, and fellow team members.
Delivery Driver
This full-time position contributes to the fulfillment of Open Arms’ mission by delivering meals and food items to program clients, between our Minneapolis and St. Paul kitchens and to other organizational partners as needed. Anticipated hours are Monday through Friday, 8am to 4pm, with the ability to start at either Minneapolis or St. Paul depending on the location of vehicles and delivery schedule for the day. Flexibility to work operational hours and occasional evenings or weekends as needed. As with all Open Arms staff positions, this position is responsible for helping ensure volunteers and interns have an exemplary experience during all interactions with Open Arms and is expected to consistently maintain a high level of customer service to all guests, clients, and fellow team members.
Meal Expediter & Packager
This is an hourly full-time and benefits-eligible position in a high-volume production kitchen. Under the direction of the Kitchen Floor Manager, the Meal Expediter & Packager will set up the meal packing line for volunteers and gather all components necessary to complete packaging of meals for clients, while ensuring quality and consistency of our meals as they move through the packaging process. The packaging of meals is mainly completed by volunteers. The Meal Expediter & Packager must maintain a clean and sanitary work environment and ensure that volunteers are doing the same. As with all OAM staff positions, this position is responsible for helping ensure volunteers and interns have an exemplary experience during all interactions with Open Arms and is expected to consistently maintain a high level of customer service to all guests, clients, and fellow team members
Finance Associate
This full-time salaried position contributes to the fulfillment of the Open Arms’ mission by providing ongoing financial support to the Finance Department. Job duties will include A/R & A/P, monthly billing, banking, processing credit card donations, event support, and general accounting support for the organization. As with all OAM staff
positions, this position is responsible for helping ensure volunteers and interns have an exemplary experience during all interactions with Open Arms and is expected to consistently maintain a high level of customer service to all guests, clients, and fellow team members.
Lead Chef & Volunteer Ambassador – St. Paul Kitchen
This is a 40-hour-per-week, benefits-eligible position in a high-volume production kitchen preparing and packaging ready-to-eat meals. Working as part of a team at the St. Paul Kitchen, the Lead Chef is a responsible leader (not supervisor) acting as a role model to the entire staff. The Lead Chef is responsible for food preparation, kitchen safety and sanitization, overall kitchen cleanliness and organization. In the absence of the Food Services Manager, the Lead Chef will oversee the daily production, ensuring efficiency and volunteer engagement through proper distribution of tasks. As with all OAM staff positions, this position is responsible for helping ensure volunteers and interns have an exemplary experience during all interactions with Open Arms and is expected to consistently maintain a high level of customer service to all guests, clients, and fellow team members.
Internship Opportunities
Special Events & Development Nonprofit Internship
The Special Events & Development nonprofit intern will participate in nearly every aspect of the Organization. This internship will play an integral role in the daily activities of the Organization, as well as explore the inner workings of running a nonprofit.
Open Farms Internship
The Open Farms Intern will work side by side with the Farm Program Coordinator and the farm team to complete many tasks over the course of the growing season.
Nonprofit Internship
The nonprofit intern will participate in nearly every aspect of the organization. This internship will play an integral role in the daily activities of the organization, as well as explore the inner workings of running a nonprofit.
