Holiday Season Volunteering At Open Arms

Surly Gives A Damn Volunteering

We Need Volunteers This Holiday Season! Here's Where You Can Help

Client Meal Delivery

Interested in Volunteering with Open Arms for our yearly Thanksgiving Holiday deliveries? You’re in the right place!

Delivered with us before? Perfect! Follow the link to VolunteerHub, where you can see our open NOVEMBER DELIVERY ROUTES and sign up from there!

If you’re looking to join us for the first time this holiday season, welcome! Read below for what to expect and how to get started.

Here’s what you’ll need to do:

  1. Make a VolunteerHub account and make sure to mark “I am interested in delivering meals to clients” when signing up.
  2. Complete virtual orientation on the website, and fill out the Background Check on VolunteerHub. Both are required for signing up for a Delivery shift!
  3. Download the Onfleet Driver app, necessary for making Deliveries! Don’t worry, it’s helpful, easy to use, and we’ll train you before you head out on the road. Additionally, our team will reach out on the morning of your route with the details and will provide training before you hit the road!
  4. Just bring your phone, patience, and positivity… and from there, you’re ready to rock! You can always reach out to [email protected] if you run into issues or have any questions.
  5. And lastly- you’re not out on your own! Call the Delivery Desk (612-677-2577) if you encounter issues or have questions when making deliveries.
We are super excited for you to join us! Delivering meals is an incredibly important step in the process and the final stop in a chain of hard work from the farms, to the kitchen, to the client’s doorstep. It takes all of us to keep our clients fed with dignity & respect, so THANK YOU for doing your part!

Interested in bringing a group in to volunteer with us in November or December?

Holiday Volunteering
Spread some holiday cheer by volunteering with your workplace, friends, church group, or teammates. November and December are especially important months at Open Arms as we prepare and deliver Thanksgiving meals and make extra meals for clients while our kitchens are closed for the holidays.

Thanksgiving meal preparation takes place across multiple shifts rather than during one dedicated event. Every kitchen shift helps us support clients throughout our busiest—and most joyful—season.

Group Volunteering
Looking to volunteer with your church, professional, or friend group this holiday season?! Have some fun and fundraise together for a worthy cause! Donate $500 to help Open Arms provide Thanksgiving meals to our clients, and we will reserve a group kitchen shift so your team can chop, prep, laugh, and connect with one another-All while seeing the impact of your donation!

Our group volunteer kitchen shifts are held from 2:00-4:30pm for ideally groups of 8-12 volunteers with a max of 15 volunteers per shift. Group shifts take place at both our kitchen location on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

If you are interested in learning more about group volunteer shifts or getting your group scheduled please reach out to [email protected].
