Client Eligibility To qualify for Open Arms' meal delivery service a person must be diagnosed with a chronic and progressive illness such as HIV/AIDS, MS, ALS or breast cancer, and live in the Twin Cities metropolitan area.
Generally, health care professionals and case managers refer people to Open Arms. If you are interested in receiving meals, ask your case manager to call us. If you don’t have a caseworker, we welcome your call. Please call 612-872-1152 and ask to speak with our Client Services Associate.
After contact from your caseworker or health care professional, a member of our staff will speak with you to determine your nutrition needs and to arrange meal deliveries that fit your schedule.
You need to be home to receive the weekly delivery of meals on your designated weekday, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. For safety reasons, meals are not left unattended. If you cannot be there, you need to make arrangements for someone to receive them, or you can pick them up from our office.
Our general boundary for delivery is the I-494/I-694 loop. If you live outside of that area, call us to discuss delivery or pick-up options.
Once you become a client of Open Arms, you will need to call us if:
- Your address or phone number changes - You don’t need meals delivered - Your dietary needs change - You no longer need service
