WEEK SIX:

Casey encourages people to volunteer at Open Arms because, as she says, "you're bound to make friends with people who do the same kinds of things that you do." She's right. An added value to volunteering at Open Arms is that you get to meet people like Casey, and many others with a similar generous spirit.

Making this video for Open Arms of Minnesota gave me an opportunity to see what actions people are taking to help those who cannot help themselves. Having never heard of the Open Arms of Minnesota organization before this project, I was introduced into a world where people just wanted to help others and asked for nothing in return. Breast cancer is one of the diseases that Open Arms cares for and being the daughter of a two-time breast cancer survivor myself, and having the chance to work with a breast cancer survivor really made my experience very rewarding and enjoyable. - Pauleen Le

When I walked into Open Arms for the first time, the environment was incredible. Everybody seemed like they wanted to be there. All people were treated equally and they all worked together. It is a business, but it’s also a family. Seeing that all of the volunteers were so close and happy made me want to join their community and become a volunteer. When we created this video I knew that we had to capture the family atmosphere because it is very hard to miss. Next semester I am taking a class that also volunteers with Open Arms. -Michael Ewen

Over the past six weeks, we've received an amazing response to this video series and call for volunteers. Because of support from volunteers like you over the last six weeks, we’ve watched our volunteer orientation attendance grow in capacity, and our weekly shifts become filled. And, as you can imagine, at Open Arms there are never too many hands to help. Without our volunteers we could not do the work that we do, not even for one day. With open arms, we nourish body, mind, and soul is our mission, but really it's our volunteers who are the heart and soul of our operation.

So THANK YOU for giving your time, talents and energies to Open Arms. We couldn’t be more grateful and energized by the possibilities of what your new or continued commitment to Open Arms will bring. Consider volunteering today!
I'm new and I want to help! Sign me up for an orientation.

Already a volunteer? View the weekly openings, and join us this week!

I can’t help right now, but I can donate!
