Bigger Than Barbie Thursday,
February 1 On World AIDS Day, Open Arms presented the Midwest premiere of a new documentary film, Bigger Than Barbie, by Norwegian filmmaker Tina Davis. We want more people to have the opportunity to see it! The film chronicles the life of a Monkeybiz beader who is raising her niece and nephew who have been orphaned by AIDS. As the film unfolds, we see how a job making beaded art transforms lives and leads families out of poverty. We also see the harsh reality of life today in sub-Saharan Africa when the featured woman reveals she is HIV-positive. Join us for this informal gathering at Open Arms. Click here for directions.
