Our Services

Open Arms is the only service in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area that prepares and delivers meals to people living with HIV/AIDS, MS, ALS and breast cancer. And we do so at no cost to recipients. All of our meals are well-balanced, nutritious, look appetizing, and taste delicious.

Our food services director, staff and volunteers prepare nutritious meals for mid-day delivery Monday through Friday. The majority of our clients recieve one large, weekly delivery. Each weekly deliveries include five frozen entrées (protein, vegetable & starch) two salads, two sandwiches, three servings of soup, milk, 5 pieces of fresh fruit, five homemade desserts, and some breakfast items– enough food for about five days. Most special dietary needs can be accommodated. We are able to provide daily deliveries to clients without freezer or storage space, or for clients with other special situations.

We're able to tailor entrees to meet the needs of our clients. We currently have four entree options: Regular, Mild entrees, Soft entrees, and African Style entrees. (Read more about our meals here.)

A registered dietitian reviews the nutritional quality of all the meals and enhancements to make sure the program provides a minimum of 1,250 calories and at least 2/3 of an individual's daily nutritional needs. Our dietitian is available to individuals for nutritional counseling at no cost.

Open Arms is a member of the national organization, ANSA - Association of Nutrition Services Agencies.
